This is the house where we will be living while in Japan. You can see the fields that I have plowed many times (in the South) as well as the community gardens that Oba-chan (Grandma) leases out and helps people learn how to farm, to the East.
A blog about our trip to Japan, from the Duffy Family. You can ask us questions, and make requests! Keep it nice, since all school rules apply. Remember, humor is appreciated!

First Posting
This is the first entry in a blog designed to show our life in Japan. It is my hope that it will help us maintain contact with friends from the US. I plan on uploading photos and stories on a weekly basis. I can also answer any questions or concerns followers may have regarding our life in Japan. . .

Maryellen, You are more than welcome! As per the circles, it is a google+ thing, an attempt to cut into facebook I think. It seems pretty cool. . .
DeleteCongratulations on your first post of 'Duffy's in Japan'. I'll comment additional information from the perspective of a Japanese speaker on your blog. So far Tokyo area is in the rainy season. Cucumber, eggplant, potato and corn are in season and Oba- chan's friends and customers love her organic vegetable. A palm civet ate the most of her corn. She is not happy about it.
ReplyDeleteOther readers may not know that this post is made by Ryoko-san, Mom and Wife of our happy trio. I am saddened to hear about the loss of the corn, as I look forward to eating it fresh off the plant. I will post a new comment regarding the critter that did the deed. . .
ReplyDeleteHello Kevin and family! I didn't realize how close to Tokyo you will be. You must be really geared up about leaving at this point. I imagine that getting ready to go is no small feat. Best wishes on your great adventure! -- Marilyn Davis
ReplyDeleteWe are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! All the way from Narita!
