First Posting

This is the first entry in a blog designed to show our life in Japan.  It is my hope that it will help us maintain contact with friends from the US.  I plan on uploading photos and stories on a weekly basis.  I can also answer any questions or concerns followers may have regarding our life in Japan. . .

This is the house where we will be living while in Japan.  You can see the fields that I have plowed many times (in the South) as well as the community gardens that Oba-chan (Grandma) leases out and helps people learn how to farm, to the East.

    1. Maryellen, You are more than welcome! As per the circles, it is a google+ thing, an attempt to cut into facebook I think. It seems pretty cool. . .

  2. Congratulations on your first post of 'Duffy's in Japan'. I'll comment additional information from the perspective of a Japanese speaker on your blog. So far Tokyo area is in the rainy season. Cucumber, eggplant, potato and corn are in season and Oba- chan's friends and customers love her organic vegetable. A palm civet ate the most of her corn. She is not happy about it.

  3. Other readers may not know that this post is made by Ryoko-san, Mom and Wife of our happy trio. I am saddened to hear about the loss of the corn, as I look forward to eating it fresh off the plant. I will post a new comment regarding the critter that did the deed. . .

  4. Hello Kevin and family! I didn't realize how close to Tokyo you will be. You must be really geared up about leaving at this point. I imagine that getting ready to go is no small feat. Best wishes on your great adventure! -- Marilyn Davis
