I usually spend the Summers in Japan helping out around the house and farm, and this is the first real Fall/Winter that I will be here. Oba-chan has always put me to work at some point trimming and maintaining the trees around the house with the statement that "this is early". Well this year I finally get to do the work at the appropriate time. Today we broke out the clippers and started "cupping" the trees along the driveway. They had gotten a little rough and the work was needed. It took us most of the day and clean up was tough considering the clippings were quite small. I hope you agree that the outcome was worth the effort!

I mean I REALLY enjoy reading your postings which I find witty, thoughtful, insightful, touching, informative ... I just get such a kick out of reading about your "adventures." Please show us pictures of Oba-chan's home. I love what you've done with the trees along the driveway. Your sketch of Yuta is perfect, Kevin. It sounds as though you are all well and happy. Tell us more about Ryoko. Is she happy to be spending this year with her mother?
I do have some news to report, Victoria has delivered her baby ... Elke Apple was born two days ago in the wee hours of the morning. Of course, she's beautiful and good as gold. Tigerlily and Lyric are over the moon about her, as are we all.
I miss you all and hope you continue to enjoy your time there. I look forward to reading all about it.

Sandie- I am very glad to hear of the newest member of your family. I have always been impressed with the sheer volume of love that is quite easily observable by a simple neighbor like myself. I know that Elke Apple will be cherished. . .
DeleteRyoko has not really shown an interest in the blog other than to read what I post. I will make an effort to include her more in subsequent writings.
